ABOUT “ONE BIG LOVE”

ONE BIG LOVE began the way most true things do: small, and by accident. A Gospel Brunch and a Pig Roast, one afternoon at Dee’s Country Cocktail Lounge in East Nashville, October 2022. In the years that followed, it found new homes across East Nashville: “The Underdog”, “The Colosseum”, “Star Rover Sound”, even a short run of shows at a local burger joint…but it was never really about the room. What gathered there was less a crowd than a congregation, growing season after season without ever losing the thing that made it holy in the first place.

By the end of that first year, more than a hundred artists had passed through its doors, unknowns and Grammy winners alike, standing on the same ground. Genre fell away. Ego fell away. What remained was the oldest agreement music has ever offered: that we are more alike than different, and a song is proof of it.

Paul McDonald built this after nearly twenty years on the road, in dive bars and on festival stages, looking for a room that didn’t exist yet. So he made one. “I wanted to create a space where everyone feels welcome at the table,” he says. “No labels. No cliques. Just authentic artists coming together, and in the process, giving something back.”

That is still the whole of it. Musicians, painters, makers, neighbors, all folded into one long table, where generosity is the point and the music is how it gets said.

This year, ONE BIG LOVE returns bigger than ever: Friday, September 18th, an 10am to 6pm day party held in collaboration with AMERICANAFEST at Acme Feed & Seed in downtown Nashville, spread across three stages. Proceeds go to Songs for Kids Foundation, carrying music into the lives of children and young adults facing disability and illness.

Not a festival. A table. Pull up a chair.
